iTunes Cleaner: Clear 100GB iTunes Junk on Mac

iTunes can do more than just store your music, you can download applications, back up iOS data, deal with some system problems and so on. As the iTunes is so multi-functional, it can create some junks such as outdated iOS device backups, broken download, and other useless data when operating.

    Part 1: Clear iTunes Junk on Mac Manually

    Your Mac may contains lots of iTunes downloads or backup copies that are useless. However, those files would of cause consume lots of storage space and you don't even know it. Now, let’s see how to manually delete the iTunes junk to free up your Mac.

    Firstly, please open iTunes on your Mac and then click on the Apps icon under Library sidebar. Choose the apps you want to delete and press the Delete key on the Keyboard. Now, you would be prompted with a message to ask you to confirm if you want to move the apps to trash or not. Please click on the Delete App button.

    Once you update to the latest revision, iTunes would create a copy of firmware files for better restore on your iOS devices. However, those copies are useless and would waste the storage space on your Mac. So you need to delete them.

    To delete the unnecessary software updates, please go the Finder and press down the Option key on your keyboard. Choose the Go menu and click on Library. Now, you need to find out the iTunes folder and then the iPad Software Updates, iPhone Software Updates, and iPod Software Updates folders. Once you can see a file with "Restore.ipsw" extension, please drag it into the Trash.

    Please find out the unneeded iOS device backups that iTunes has created, which would take up lots of space on your Mac. Then go to the iTunes menu and click on the “Preferences > Devices”.

    Select the backup copies which are outdated and click on the Delete Backup button.
